Comparative Risk Assessment of a Hydrogen Refueling Station Using Gaseous Hydrogen and Formic Acid as the Hydrogen Carrier

To realize a hydrogen economy, many studies are being conducted regarding the development and analysis of carriers. Recently, formic acid has been receiving attention as potential carrier due to its high volumetric energy density relatively safe characteristics. However, refueling systems using very different from conventional stations, quantitative risks assessments need be verify their usage. In this study, comparative safety station (FAHRS) gaseous (GHRS) was conducted. Since there is no FAHRS under operation, process simulation model developed integrated with risk assessment techniques perform analysis. Results show that poses less than GHRS, where vapor cloud explosion occurring in buffer tank greatest consequence. A GHRS greater an pressure required store tube trailer.
